π Wrapping Up the Year at INRIA with the SPIRALS Team Seminar!
A fantastic opportunity to showcase exciting work and celebrate our team's achievements.

SPIRALS Team Seminar
End of Year Celebration & Research Showcase
@ INRIA Lille
π End of Year Traditions
As the year comes to a close, our SPIRALS team at INRIA held our traditional seminar β a cherished tradition that brings together all team members to showcase their work and celebrate our collective achievements.
For those who don't know, SPIRALS (Self-adaptation for distributed services and large software systems) is a joint research team between INRIA and the University of Lille. We focus on making software systems more autonomous, resilient, and adaptive.
"The seminar is more than just presentations β it's a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and the incredible people behind the research."
π€ My First SPIRALS Presentation
I was thrilled (and a bit nervous!) to present the projects I've been working on since joining just two months ago. Standing in front of the entire team, including senior researchers and PhD students, was quite the experience!
My Presentation Topic
Self-Adaptation Library for Cloud Microservices
A Java Maven library designed to facilitate the self-adaptation of Java-based microservices in the cloud β the early foundations of what would become AdaptiFlow!
Achievement Unlocked! π
2 Months β 1 Complete Library
A Java Maven library for self-adaptive microservices, complete with documentation and working demos.
π What I Presented
Here's a quick overview of what I showcased to the team:
The Problem Space
Why do cloud microservices need self-adaptation? The challenges of managing distributed systems at scale.
The Architecture
How the library is structured β perception, logic, and execution layers for autonomous behavior.
Live Demo
A working demonstration with the TeaStore benchmark application showing real-time adaptation.
Future Roadmap
Where we're heading next β more adaptation strategies, better integration, and academic publications.
π₯ The SPIRALS Family
What makes SPIRALS special isn't just the research β it's the people. Here's what makes our team awesome:
Brilliant Minds
Senior researchers with decades of experience in distributed systems and self-adaptation.
PhD Community
A supportive group of doctoral students tackling cutting-edge research challenges.
Collaboration Spirit
Open doors, shared knowledge, and a culture of helping each other succeed.
Coffee Culture
The best ideas happen around the coffee machine. It's basically a research requirement! π
π Reflections
Standing there, presenting my work to the team that welcomed me just two months ago, I felt a mix of pride and gratitude.
Pride because I had accomplished something meaningful in a short time. Gratitude because I'm surrounded by people who support growth and celebrate each other's wins.
"The journey of learning and growing never stops, and I'm eager to keep pushing the boundaries in the days to come!"
π Looking Forward
This seminar was just the beginning. With the foundation laid, here's what's next:
- Refine the library based on team feedback
- Start working on the research paper (spoiler: it got accepted! π)
- Expand the adaptation strategies
- Prepare for the PhD journey ahead
Here's to continuous improvement and collaboration! πͺβ¨
Thank you, SPIRALS team, for making my first end-of-year seminar so memorable. Can't wait to see what we build together in the coming year!
